Studio Break

Hey angels! I don't have anything creative to share with you, I just wanted to give you a little update. I'm in the middle of remodeling a room in my house to make it my very own little art studio, so I do apologize for the little blog break. I'll be back soon, stay tuned!!

Such A Lovely Girl

Hey peeps! Mother's Day is quickly approaching and the Pixie Dust Paperie is hosting a new challenge, all about yo momma! Okay, sorry. Your mom. I know I have used this picture before, and you'll probably see it time and time again, but it's my favorite pic of my mom when she was little. So bear with me folks.

I found this neat little wooden frame at Michaels and painted it white to "shabby" it up a bit.  It makes the page kinda heavy, but I'm going to frame it so she can put it up in her room. Orrr my scrap studio...

Buttons & glitter, adorable felt Prima bow...

More Prima beauties with some Kaisercraft wooden foilage all gussied up, a shabby crown from Melissa Frances...

Isn't sheee looovvvvelllyyyy? ;) I love that song! Do you think she's going to like it?! I hope so! Get on over to Pixie and check out some more inspiration from the  amazing DT. You should play! You could win a gift certificate wooohooo!

Use It Tuesday-Momma Challenge

Happy Tuesday yall! It's time for a new challenge over at the Use It Tuesday Blog! It's all about Mom!  I can't believe it's almost Mommas Day!? This is such a special holiday isn't it? I love it! I guess it helps that I was blessed with the most amazing mom, she is Super Woman in the flesh,  thee Mrs. Incredible, I aint kiddin. Tights, leotard, and all.  She is the lady that taught me alll about the wondrous world of crafting. (What she failed to mention is that the wondrous world of crafting sucks you in like a black hole until you're at the point of no return! Can I get a witness?! ) Her name is Debbie, and she is a quilter. Oh yes. I'm talkin hardcore. Tubs and tubs of patterns and fabric, every color, every print, oh muh gosh. Sound familiar? Rows upon rows of patterned paper? Every color? Every print? ;) Anyhoo, she likes to collect (notice I said collect? Not utilize?) Moda fabric charm packs and cake plates and jelly rolls, and I wanted to get her a charm pack for Mommas Day but I also wanted to present it in a cute way! Sooo I took this cute pink & white glassine type bag and folded it to make it the right size and voila. A charm pack holdin Mother's Day card!

I hope she likes it! I can not get enough of this Crate Paper Pretty Party line! It's one of my faves fo sho! So girly!

I also used a new stamp from The Crafts Meow;

But, the whole point of Use It Tuesday is to use your stash ladies! The hoarded items that I used are the ever dependable doily, the twine, the pink paper rose, and the vintage glitter on the scroll corner. It's from the 50s lol!

I sure hope she likes it! I'll stick a little love note in there too of course. So dig out your stash and come play with us! Check out the Use It Tuesday blog for some amazing inspiration from the design team!

Good night!

Cutest Little Farmer

Haayyyy! How are you on this beautiful day? Lately I've really been noticing some changing in my boys, they're really starting to grow into their own. Really growin up. Every time Kyle  (12 yrs.) walks into the room, I point out to him that his shoulders are getting broad & he's starting to get "pecks." Sooo now he flexes his new found manlihood. Alot. Im like fine but if I find 1 hair on that chest Im yankin it out!!  I have such mixed feelings about this!? It makes me so sad to think about them not bein chubby little boys galloping around, wreaking havoc, slipping their dirty & sweaty little chubby hands into mine. Where did the time go? I always try to thumb through old pictures at least once a week. I dont think scrapbooking should be just about "events," it should also be about the special emotions  you feel and everyday moments you share with the ones that tug on your heartstrings the most. I found this picture of the dudes in a garden, tryin to help with the harvest. Ok, trying to find very large and heavy projectiles but whatever. I didn't photocopy it (gassspp!), I just had to use it right then and there. I wasn't even planning on doing this type of page but it literally just flowed out of me! So I grabbed some Walnut Distress Ink, new October Afternoon Farmhouse products, and new Prima flowers and got busy..

If you'll notice in the background of the picture on the left, that's Beeb, sporting a fabulous t-shirt from the Thomas the Train collection and would you just check out those chubby little legs?! Ugh! I would be lying if I said I never chewed on them lol! I had to be careful in my design because I absolutely could never cover that part of the picture up. Make sure you always pay attention to what's in the background!

This pic makes my heart melt.

The two glorious flowers on the left are Prima, the burlap beauty is Maya Road, fabulous foliage stems by Petaloo.

Banner pieces are Maya Road, sprayed with Meadow Green Glimmer Mist, stamped with Recollection letters (my fave alphabet)

Envelope is Maya Road, doily fussy cuts from Crate Paper, and veggie die cuts are October Afternoon Miscellany.

The scalloped chipboard backing is Melissa Frances, globbed with Tim Holtz crackle paint.

So there ya have it. It's ok to scrapbook chronologically and holidays and things of that nature, just please make sure you create with the photos that are closest to your heart, because you just never know.

Love, Sarah

April Showers

Happy Tuesday! I have a card to share with you today, it's for the new challenge over at Use It Tuesday. I love being a part of this design team! It forces me to dig through my evergrowing stash of delicious goodies that I just "had to have" at one point (ha!), and I think that's brilliant! The theme was April Showers Bring May Flowers, and here's what I did;

Just kept it light and fun, super springy! From my stash I used my chocolatey brown spring Dear Lizzy paper which I would really love to buy some more of, if you see it let me know? Also this chipboard cloud by October Afternoon, with which I tried to simulate the "rain effect" down onto the flowers with aqua bakers twine and Stickles...don't know if it actually worked but what the hey, you gotta try new things sometimes, yes?

I do believe this yellow trim by American Crafts has been hanging out in my stash for awhile too, but this pink blossom is new from Prima. I have a new found love for felt flowers, I think they're soo stinkin cute!

The patterned paper with the darling umbrellas is Jillibean Soup. I think it should be a rule that if you make paper with cute umbrellas you have to sell the cute umbrella along with it...

Photo courtesy of Anne Taintor.

Do you ever feel like that? Me too about every day lol!

So go dig something springy out of that stash of yours! Make sure you play along and grab some inspiration from the awesome design team over there!

Ciao!!
